CMDSM - Certified Mail & Distribution Systems Manager

Requirements:

  • 5 years or more work experience
  • Last 3 Years in Managerial role
  • 2 years membership in MSMA or
  • Verification from employer of profession
  • 150 Qualification Points out of a total of a possible 240 are required to take the exam.
        - Professional experience
        - MSMA experience
        - Non-MSMA experience
        - Education

Fee:

  • $475 for MSMA members
  • $675 for non-MSMA members

CMM - Certified Mail Manager

Requirements:

  • 5 years mail management experience
  • Currently employed at in-house environment
  • Job of a managerial nature
  • Verification from employer of profession
  • Pledge to adhere to CMM Code of Ethics
  • Be of high moral character and professional attitude
  • Three letters of recommendation

Exam:

  • Four parts consisting of multiple-choice and essay questions
  • Areas tested: Communication Skills, Computer Skills, Financial Management, General Management, Mail Management, Personnel Management, Technical Skills
  • Must score 75% or better on each part

Fee:

  • $300 IPMA members
  • $600 Non-members

MDP - Mail Design Professional 

The Mail Design Professional (MDP) course provides in-depth training on postal standards related to designing letter and flat mail to facilitate processing on high speed automation equipment while maximizing cost effectiveness and reducing processing delays.This course is available at http://www.nced.com/bma/ and may be taken at any time. There is no charge to take the course. However, in order to be certified, the student must complete the MDP examination and pass at 80% or higher accuracy. Once enrolled and your payment is received, a hard copy examination and directions will be mailed to the address provided during registration.

Certification is good for two years and your name and the name of your institution is listed on the USPS website.

Learning Outcome:

  • Course Participants will learn to properly design various types of mail.
  • Course Participants will learn how to design their mail to enhance its compatibility with USPS automation equipment while maximizing cost effectiveness.
  • Course Participants learn elements of design that will increase the market value and deliverability of mail pieces.

EMCM - Executive Mail Center Manager

The EMCM program provides training specifically designed for mailing industry professionals. The program teaches skills needed to:

  • 3 years of direct supervisory or management experience in mail management
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for 1 year of management experience
  • A letter of recommendation from your manager

  • Manage more effectively
  • Improve mail center safety and security

Training is available through five-day residency programs offered at the National Center for Employee Development in Norman, Oklahoma. A comprehensive exam administered as part of training.
